Mary Karsyn Von Egidy - 2023 - Holland Funeral Service and Crematory (2024)

Mary “Karsyn” Von Egidy, known to many as Ms. Von, passed away on April 20th from a tragic car accident in SC. Karsyn, age 27, was born on April 4th, 1996 to Dennis and Traci Von Egidy in Matthews, NC.

Karsyn was full of energy, had a beautiful smile, and brought light to every person and room she encountered. She was the life of the party and could turn almost any situation into fun. Despite being asked to stop, she always sang and loved car concerts and karaoke nights. Her giggly laugh was so contagious, you could not help but laugh with her. Growing up, she played basketball, softball, cheered, and danced competitively. She was very athletic but she enjoyed the social aspect of sports the most. She was sweet, caring, protective, and passionate. These qualities were evident in everything she did. Her faith in God and her family were the most important things to her. She comes from a large family that consisted of many little kids that she adored. She was a caregiver to all but especially her twin sister Kirby. Her and Kirby were born with a connection that could never be explained nor broken. They were twins but also the best of friends. She loved to feel needed and her greatest goal in life was to help others and draw people closer to the Lord. She loved so big and was truly the happiest when she saw others happy. When she was not working, you could almost always find her with her phone attached to her ear and her talking a mile a minute.

Karsyn graduated from Charlotte Christian High School in 2015 then attended High Point University. In true Karsyn fashion, after two years she transferred to Wingate University to be closer to her family. She graduated with a B.S. and Masters of Elementary Education in 2021. During her collegiate career Karsyn served in APO, a service fraternity, was an active member of Alpha Xi Delta, Delight Campus Ministries, FCA, Young Life, Wingate’s Student Government Association and the Wingate and High Point cheerleading teams. She was also a part of the National Teachers Association and the National Society of Leadership and Success. She devoted a lot of her time to volunteering and helping with her family’s non-profit organizations. She went on to work at Union Academy and was about to complete her second year of teaching kindergarten. She loved teaching kindergarten for many reasons but always joked that she chose that grade to ensure none of her students were taller than her. Her ability to interact with these kids was like no other and made her the most encouraging, approachable, and compassionate teacher. She put her whole heart into her job and loved each of the kids as her own. She truly had found her calling in life. She also had a love for kids with special needs. Her patience and childlike presence shined when she worked with them.

Karsyn was known for being selfless and her last act on this earth was the ultimate example of this. For many years, she began donating blood and plasma regularly and has always been listed as an organ donor. Following the accident, Karsyn gifted four of her organs saving five peoples lives. She fulfilled her greatest aspiration in life of helping others and became a true hero.

She is preceded in death by her Uncle Matthew Von Egidy. She will be greatly missed by her parents Dennis and Traci Von Egidy, twin sister Kirby Von Egidy and brother DennisKoleman Von Egidy. Her grandparents Kirby and Mary Jane Crooke and Dennis and Angela Von Egidy. Her Uncle’s Perry (Dusty) Crooke, James Von Egidy, Wesley (Cheryle) Von Egidy, Wade (Dawn) Von Egidy, and Aunt Sharon (Bill) Johnson.
