These were great. Made a few substitutions based on ingredients on hand/taste preferences. I used the entire avocado for the dressing. Omitted the red onions as I don't like them. Used a mix of pre-shredded white cheeses that I had on hand (an Italian mix and a little mozzarella). Served "open faced" on a half of a piece of packaged naan bread since weirdly, my market didn't have any pita. Pita, Spread, Greens (spring mix), Falafal. Delicious!

Amazing! I don't like cilantro or cumin so I just used Ms. Dash garlic & herb.

So delicious! This is more Mexican with pinto beans, cilantro and avocado vs falafel. At any rate, loved it!

Would add more cumin to the patties, and put cilantro in the avocado spread next time - otherwise awesome!

This was phenomenal, and very easy to make. I did heed the advice of others a put the mixture into the fridge for a few minutes prior to shaping and cooking the patties. For the avocado cream sauce, I basically followed the recipe adding a bit more lime juice, more cilantro, and a whole avocado. This is a definite keeper!

My family really LOVES this recipe! I also let the mixture chill in the fridge for a little bit, it makes it easier to shape patties. LOVE IT! I have celiacs disease, so instead of the pita, I use lettuce and make a wrap, on put it on top of GF bread.

I've made these half a dozen or so times. We love them. The only problem with healthier food that tastes this good is that I'm tempted to eat twice as much!

Ummm- do not cook according to instructions or you'll end up getting sick all night like I did. The falafels need way more time cooking on each side. The dish could be good if the directions were correct.

This was a nice change of pace and a great gluten-free option. I found it easier to mix the falafel ingredients in a food processor. I also let the mixture chill in the refrigerator before forming the patties. It is easier to cook 8 small patties so that they do not fall apart when you flip them over.

Easy, fast and different. Great way to change things up a bit on a weeknight because its easy to make easy to eat! Sometimes we skip the pita and just serve the patties with the avacado spread and some of the left over chips.

I thought this recipe was so good! And, it was easy and came together so quickly! I read the reviews saying this was a glorified hamburger, so I made 8 smaller patties instead of 4 bigger ones to give it more of a falafel feel. I also added garlic to the recipe to kick it up just a notch. And, while it wasn't the fanciest meal ever, it was definitely tasty enough to serve to friends (just maybe not to your boss)!

Having no memorable experience with falafel before I cannot comment on whether this compares favorably or not. I prepared the recipe exactly as written and found it to be a solid recipe with good flavor and texture. Some of the other reviews comment on the amount of time it takes to cook. I followed the recipe and three minutes PER SIDE was perfect -- crispy crust and gooey middle. I gave it three stars because four stars indicates the recipe is worthy of a special occasion and this is more of a beanburger type of recipe. Certainly good and healthful, but not something I would serve to special guests. Bottom line: good sandwich. Enjoy with a cold beer!

This recipe was fantastic! It was very inexpensive, easy and delicious! I have never had falafel before, but I needed to make something to use the cliantro I am growing in my herb garden. I am forwarding this recipe to friends!!!

I LOVE this recipe. It is so easy and SO tasty! I add jalapeno to the spread and I prefer to use blue corn chips in the mix. I haven't had anyone disappointed this recipe yet!

These turned out wonderful. We love falafel, but it can be so time consuming to make it right. This was a delicious substitution. It had a Southwestern taste, but falafel substance. Great weeknight dinner!

This is a weeknight staple in our house. It's quick, healthy and delicious. We usually double it for leftovers and use a whole avocado in the spread. It goes great with some frozen corn and pita chips on the side! Make sure to keep the temperature high on the stove while you're cooking - makes the patties very crispy and yummy!

I absoultely love this recipe. I'm a huge fan of ordering falafels at Middle Eastern restaurants, and although I wouldn't say this tastes like what you are served there, this is a lovely recipe. I love that there is cheese in the patties and the avocado spread gives the overall end sandwhich wonderful flavor, without the fried of traditional falafels.

I made these tonight not sure how they were going to taste, judging by the reviews. I followed the recipe pretty close as directed, using blue tortilla chips, pinto beans, green onions and shredded cheddar. Added an egg white (and a little bit of yolk), fried them in olive oil for about 5-6 min total. I had an avocado to make the spread, but it wasn't ripe enough to use, so I ended up topping the pitas with sour cream and shredded iceburg lettuce. I was worried what my meat-loving BF would say after taking the 1st bite, but WOW we were surprised! They were terrific! Meaty-textured, crunchy on the outside, filling and very flavorful. We loved them! Definitely a keeper of a recipe!

Soooo delicious! Even my non-vegetarian friends loved it!! The patties taste so good, but they do take longer than 3 minutes to cook, which is ok!! I let them cook for about 10 min. I put a lot more tomatoes in the avocado spread, tasted great! I served roasted potato salad on the side and fresh fruit juice. Simply delicious!
