Ingredients

Let’s talk about the Chick Fil A chicken noodle soup ingredients! This is just an overview; check the recipe card below for full ingredient measurements.

  • Raw chicken breast: I used boneless, skinless chicken breast in this Chick Fil A noodle soup recipe. If you have leftover cooked or grilled chicken, use that instead.
  • Noodles: Chick Fil A uses an uncommon noodle called mafalda corta, but any pasta will work. Egg noodles, macaroni, wheels, rotini, etc. are all good choices.
  • Vegetables: Carrots and celery are what you need for this recipe.
  • Onion: Red, white, yellow, or sweet – any onion variety works excellently here.
  • Minced garlic provides great aroma. Feel free to use garlic powder instead of garlic cloves; simply add it with the broth.
  • Olive oil to sauté the veggies. Any light-tasting oil will work. Suggested substitutions are avocado oil, canola oil, and butter.
  • Chicken broth: Homemade or store-bought, low-sodium chicken broth or chicken stock is perfect.
  • Better than Bouillon is my secret ingredient in this easy chicken noodle soup. It gives the dish rich flavor and makes it taste exactly like Chick Fil A. You can use any chicken base, but I have the best results with this roasted chicken base.
  • Salt + pepper enhance the soup’s flavor.
Can I use bouillon cubes?

Of course! If you don’t have Better than Bouillon, chicken bouillon cubes will do just fine. They give the soup a perfectly seasoned, umami flavor. You need 2 to 3 cubes for this recipe.

Cooking tips

This copycat Chick Fil A chicken noodle soup is one of my favorites! Here are a few tips and tricks on making the BEST chicken noodle soup bowl.

  • Cut vegetables in the same size: Doing so ensures the carrots and celery are ready at the same time.
  • Adjust consistency: You can add more or less chicken and noodles, for a chunkier or brothier soup. The recipe amounts produce what I think is closest to the texture of Chick Fil A chicken soup.
  • Simmer the soup: Boiling the chicken can make it rubbery, so keep the soup on a simmer after adding the chicken.
  • Taste-test: After your soup has cooked, give it a taste. You can adjust the seasonings at this point. Feel free to add more salt, pepper, garlic, or herbs like parsley, thyme, or oregano to suit your preferences.
  • Make-ahead: If you plan to prepare the soup ahead of time, cook and store the noodles separately. Stir 2 tbsp olive oil into the noodles to prevent sticking and store in an airtight container in the fridge. When it’s time to serve, heat the soup and stir in the pasta. That way, the noodles won’t absorb too much liquid and get mushy.

Serving suggestions

  • Garnish: Ladle the hot soup into bowls and garnish with a sprinkle of pepper and fresh parsley leaves if desired.
  • Serve: Enjoy the soup with Saltine crackers (like Chick Fil A does) or with your favorite crusty bread or biscuits. We also love this soup with garlic bread and Italian cheese bread.

Storage instructions

How to store Chick Fil A chicken noodle soup

Is there anything better than leftover soup? It’s great to heat up for a hearty lunch. Store any leftover chicken noodle soup in an airtight container in the refrigerator and enjoy it within 4 to 6 days.

Reheat Chick Fil A soup

You can reheat individual portions in the microwave if you want something fast. But my favorite way to reheat leftovers is in a pot on the stove. Heat over medium heat, frequently stirring, until hot.

The pasta will absorb liquid as it sits. Add additional broth to adjust the consistency and achieve your preferred level of soupiness.

Freeze Chick Fil A chicken soup

Let the soup cool to room temperature, then transfer it to a freezer-safe, airtight container and freeze for up to 3 months.

Cook frozen Chick Fil A noodle soup recipe

Remove the frozen soup from the freezer and let it thaw in the refrigerator overnight. You can also defrost it on the counter for a couple of hours, which is faster.

It’s also possible to thaw the soup only slightly and cook the mostly frozen soup over medium heat until thawed and hot. Be sure to stir frequently.
